• G: A G-Rated fiction will most likely be fluff or pre-yaoi. It may contain reference to a relationship or love but no hint of sex or kissing.

• PG: A PG-Rated fiction will probably be fluff or romance. It can contain up to light kissing and mention of a relationship. No mention of sex will, most likely, be present.

• PG-13: A PG-13-Rated fiction will probably be any genre. It will not contain a lemon, but may contain references to sex, violence, language or heavy kissing/making out. It also may contain sexual innuendo.

• R: An R-Rated fanfiction may contain violent or sexual situation. There also might be swearing involved. Most R-Rated fanfictions contain lime situations where sex begins but isn't covered completely.

• NC-17: An NC-17-Rated fanfiction may contain anything. It will probably have sex or a lemon in it in heavy description. Some may contain extreme violence, non-consensual situations or rape. Most will simply be two characters making love in detail. Anything is permitted for an NC-17 fanfiction.
